about

The slow air I play in the introduction to this track was the first tune I composed this winter, and the sound of it comes out in other tunes on the album, in addition to just swirling around in my head all the time. I asked Marc Irwin, an accomplished composer, about this phenomenon and he told me about one of his teachers saying everyone has one melody that just stays with them and won’t leave them alone, and they should write that song for themselves. I use this melody as a slow air and also created Meg’s March out of it. Antill Traill is a trail near a PATC cabin off the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania that was built by Ray Fadner. I wrote quite a few tunes at the cabin, and had a lovely time hiking and watching the birds and the sunset.
