I’ve been playing The Growling Old Man and the Grumbling Old Woman since I was a kid, this French Canadian fiddle tune tends to bring down the house at a contradance. It also makes a beautiful tune for teaching fiddle style. We used to play it with Tam Lin, which is another fun banger, but I decided to write a Tam-Lin-like tune to stand in and ended up with Air it Out. Air it Out was written at Little Cove cabin off the Tuscarora trail, after I accidentally started a fire on the stove, and not in a good way. I opened all the windows to air out the cabin, and wrote this tune.
